Amantran-2026
The Department of Commerce & Management organized AMANTRAN–2026, an orientation programme for first-year students and their parents, on 20th June 2026.
Faculty as Resource Person
Ms. Preethi served as the resource person for the IQAC programme held from 4th to 6th
November 2025 in the MBA Lab.
She conducted sessions on AI tools in teaching, learning, presentations, assessment, and
research from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
The programme was highly informative and enhanced participants’ knowledge of integrating AI
into academic practices.
Special Day
On 26th October 2024, the department celebrated International Accounting Day with a special focus on the significance of accounting in the global economy. The event was organized for the B.Com students, aiming to increase their awareness of accounting principles and its role in shaping businesses and economies. Around 200 students participated in the event, engaging in discussions and activities related to accounting practices.
Extension Activities
The Department of Commerce at St. Pious X Degree & PG College for Women, in
collaboration with Global Alliance Academy, London, organized an Internship Orientation
Program on 2nd August 2025 via Google Meet.
The Department of Commerce at St. Pious X Degree and PG College for Women, in collaboration with
the Triumphant Institute of Management Education (T.I.M.E), successfully organized a Career Awareness
Programme titled “Unlocking Opportunities, Building Futures” on 29th August 2025.
On August 14th, 2024, the Department of Commerce, in collaboration with PEARL and IIC, organized a Rakhi Making Workshop titled “A Journey Into Entrepreneurship” at Wesley High School. The workshop aimed to inspire students to explore entrepreneurship by teaching them how to create handmade Rakhis. Participants learned about the process of turning creative ideas into business opportunities. A total of 11 students participated in the event, gaining practical experience and insights into entrepreneurship.
On 11th June 2024, the Department of Commerce organized an Investment Awareness Programme specifically designed for the supporting staff. This initiative aimed to enhance the financial literacy of the staff by providing them with insights into various investment opportunities and strategies.
Certificate Course:
The Commerce Department organised in collabration with Menter me on 26th October 2024 for all the 2nd year
students of B. Com at UG Lab & MBA Lab. The Department of Commerce has offered two
cutting-edge courses designed to equip students with in-demand data analysis and visualization
skills. This comprehensive course combines ADVANCE EXCEL and POWER BI empowering
students to analyze, visualize and present data efficiently.
Industrial Visit & Field Trip:
The Industrial Visit & Entrepreneurship Orientation Program, 2024 for B. Com. final year
students was organized by Spoorthy Club, Department of Commerce coordinated by Mrs.D.Sangeetha & Mrs.P.Madhavi Latha. Overall 99 students visited NSIC on 25th September, 2024
The department of commerce went on a Field Trip to OTBI (Osmania Technology
Business Incubator) on December 20th, 2024. Mrs. G. Preethi and Mrs. Radhika led the students on a comprehensive tour of the incubator facilities. They explored various departments, including the innovation lab, co-working spaces, and the mentorship corner.y

AICTE ATAL SPONSORED OFFLINE ADVANCED FDP
The Commerce department organized the ATAL Advanced Faculty Development Program (FDP)
on "Entrepreneurship and Start-Up – Accelerating Indian Economy" from 9th December to 21st
December 2024. The program was coordinated by Mrs. G. Naga Laxmi, Assistant
Professor,Department of Commerce , St. Pious X College. Aimed at providing a transformative
learning experience, the FDP attracted 48 participants from across India.

attended the BFSI Consortium's Hyderabad Chapter launch on 20-08-2025 at T-Hub, an
initiative to align academia, industry, and government for developing future talent.This event

The Department of Commerce at St. Pious X Degree & PG College for Women organized
the Investiture Ceremony of Spoorthy Club for the academic year 2025–26 on
Wednesday, 30th July 2025. Coordinators: A. Radhika C.H. Rachana. M.Vijaya Laxmi.
SPRAYANA – Orientation for II B.Com: The orientation session for the second-year B.Com students, titled PRAYANA, was successfully conducted on 26th June 2024. This event was aimed at providing students with an overview of their academic journey and the upcoming curriculum for the year.
Budget 2024 - Budget Presentation: On 24th July 2024, the department organized a session where students presented the Union Budget for 2024. The presentation helped students understand the economic policies and budgetary allocations made by the government..
Departments of Sciences celebrated National Science Day on 28 th February, 2024. On
this occasion, the departments organized Science Exhibition. Students from I, II &
B.Sc (MSCS & MSDS) were prepared Posters & Models on Statistics and exhibited
in the lab. 460 students from various schools in twin cities were visited the exhibition
Spoorthy Meet 2024-2025: The annual Spoorthy Meet for the academic year 2024-2025 was held on 10th August 2024. The event gathered students from different years for a session that focused on academic and extracurricular activities planned for the year ahead.
Release of 5th Edition of the Departmental E-magazine COMM-CONNECT: The 5th edition of the departmental e-magazine, "COMM-CONNECT," was launched on 10th August 2024. The magazine showcased the achievements, articles, and creative work of students and faculty.
Spoorthy Club Activity – Commerce Games: On 25th September 2024, the Spoorthy Club organized a day filled with fun and learning through various commerce-related games. This activity aimed to develop the students' knowledge of commerce in a playful environment.
Industrial Visit & Entrepreneurship Orientation Program 2024: The Industrial Visit, combined with an Entrepreneurship Orientation Program, took place on 25th September 2024. This visit provided students with a real-world perspective on business practices and entrepreneurship, fostering practical learning.
International Accounting Day: The department celebrated International Accounting Day on 26th October 2024. This day featured discussions and activities around the significance of accounting and its role in the global economy
Diwali Mela: The department organized a festive Diwali Mela on 28th October 2024. Students participated in various cultural activities, stalls, and performances to celebrate the festival of lights and promote community engagement.
Club Activity (Experiential Learning) – Probability Games: On 28th January 2025, the Spoorthy Club conducted an experiential learning activity focused on probability games. This activity aimed to enhance students' analytical skills and understanding of probability in a hands-on manner.
Club Activity (Budget Edition 2025 Economic Times): On 3rd February 2025, the Spoorthy Club hosted a special edition of the Economic Times Budget activity, where students analyzed and discussed the 2025 Union Budget, honing their financial and economic understanding.
Report on Tax Awareness Week: From 24th February to 1st March 2025, the department organized a Tax Awareness Week. During this week, students learned about various tax systems and compliance, and shared their findings in a comprehensive report.
Release of the 6th Edition of the E-Magazine "BYTES & BUYS – THE DIGI MAGAZINE": The 6th edition of the e-magazine titled "BYTES & BUYS – THE DIGI MAGAZINE" was released on 1st March 2025. This edition focused on digital trends and innovations in the commerce and business sectors.
Case Study Analysis through Video Presentation: On 20th March 2025, the department conducted a case study analysis session, where students presented their findings and analyses through video presentations. This event allowed students to showcase their critical thinking and presentation skills.
Spoorthy Club Annual Day Celebrations: The Spoorthy Club’s Annual Day celebrations took place on 26th March 2025. The event marked the conclusion of the academic year’s activities, with students and faculty coming together to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and look forward to the next.

Labs and other facilities:
The Department of Commerce at St. Pious X Degree & PG College is equipped with two specialized labs to enhance practical learning: the Commerce Computer Lab and the Commerce Lab.
Commerce Computer Lab
The Commerce Computer Lab is a dedicated facility equipped with modern computers and high-speed internet to support commerce students in developing technical and analytical skills. It provides hands-on training in Tally, MS Excel, Power BI, and other accounting and data analysis tools essential for today’s business environment. The lab helps students apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, enhancing their proficiency in digital finance, e-commerce, and computerized accounting.
Commerce Lab
The Commerce Lab is an interactive learning space designed to simulate real-time business activities and decision-making processes. It serves as a hub for experiential learning through role plays, case studies, business simulations and activities like budget analysis and marketing strategies. The lab helps students bridge the gap between theory and practice, fostering entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving skills.
