Welcome to Department of Telugu

About

It is a Dravidian native language of India. This stands in par with Hindi, English, Bengali which also attained a status with the few other languages .Telugu is a state language of Telangana. Telugu is a primary language spoken in the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

In our department, teaching is not only a profession but a passion. It has an outstanding academic track record of securing gold medals and university ranks from Osmania University. Each and every faculty member interacts well with students and motivates them to pursue higher education. Faculty members identify the learners’ needs through assessment tests and interaction. Steps are taken to explore the hidden talent and originality among students. The department encourages student projects, arranges guest lectures by eminent professors and scientists from national laboratories, and also organizes field trips on a regular basis.

Anti-Drug Awareness Programme :

  • The Department of II Language organized a Poster and Slogan Writing Competition on the theme "Anti-Drug Awareness" on 24th and 25th June, 2026.

    Inter Collegiate Competitions :

  • Inter Collegiate Competitions 10th Aug 2025 On 10th August 2025 ,The Department of Telugu conducted Art Work making competition on “సాంప్రదాయ పండుగలు- కళారూపాలు” at Inter Collegiate Level. Students Participated enthusiastically, where certificates were awarded to the winners. Students will gain a deeper appreciation of the concept of సాంప్రదాయ పండుగలు- కళారూపాలు” highlighting its relevance in art, life, and culture

  • Y.Jyothi ,Department of Telugu participated in the Two day online National Work shop Program on"Compa rative Research Methods"organized by Department of Telugu & IQAC -PRR&VS Govt College in collabration with Research Center - Department of Telugu DK Govt College for women,Nellore. from13th& to 14th April 2025.

  • The department of Telugu organised by A Five Day workshop on "తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలో భారతీయ విజ్ఞాన పరంపర(Indian Knowledge Tradition in Telugu. Literature )" "Prācīna mūlālu- ādhunika aucityaṁ", "Telugu sāhityanlō vēmana śatakaṁ tātvikata", "Bhāratīya jñāna vyavastha yokka prāmukhyata" & "Jānapada kaḷārūpāla samīkṣa "was held from 16.12.2024 to 20.12.2024. )

    Green Initiative:

  • On 1st August 2025 ,The Department of Second Language organized a Skit titled “Green Initiative –Switch to Eco, Let the Plastic Go “ performed by students at the Pearl Gallery .The performance aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of plastic and encourage the adoption of eco- friendly alternatives.

    Guest Lecture:

  • The Department of Telugu organized a Guest Lecture on the topic“మినీ కవిత్వం - ప్రభావం“on 02 December 2025. Dr .S. Raghu Dept of Telugu Osmania University, Hyderabad invited as Guest Speaker.

  • The Department of Telugu organized a Guest Lecture on the topic“Telugu Sahityam-Vyaktitva Vikasam “on 31st July 2024. Prof. D.Vijayalakshmi, Head dept of Telugu,Telugu University , Hyderabad invited as Guest Speaker.

    National Girl Child Day:

  • The department of Statistics and Telugu organized a club activity on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on 27.01.2026 in the college Silver Jubliee Hall. The program was conducted under the theme “Indian Girl: Rooted in Tradition, Rising with Dreams”. The event aimed to create The program included Pencil Art and Online Quiz competitions along with other events like Skit, Debate and Art Exhibition. All the B.Sc (MSCS & MSDS) students attended the event.

    Celebrations:

  • The Department of Telugu has celebrated “Telugu Bhasha Dinothsavam” every year on 29.8.2025 On this occasion championed the use of modern, colloquial Telugu language.

  • The Department of Telugu has celebrated “Telangana Bhasha Dinothsavam” every year on 9.9.2025. On this occasion, Prof. S. Kamalakara Sharma, Head. Dept of Telugu,O.U was the chief guest and delivered an inspiring talk on the importance of culture.

    Community Development Programme:

  • On 29th July 2025 ,at the Nagarjuna Community Hall, Tarnaka Department of Sanskrit & Telugu organized a Community Development Programme focusing on the theme “Say No to Plastic” The students performed a skit in Telugu that conveyed the dangers of plastic pollution, its impact on the health and environment.

    Literary Activity:

  • On 10.8.2025 The Department of Telugu conducted Art Work making competition on సాంప్రదాయ పండుగలు- కళారూపాలు at Inter Collegiate Level. Students participated enthusiastically, and certificates were awarded to the winners.     International Mother Language Day:

  • The Department of Second Languages celebrated “International Mother Language Day on 22nd February 2025 .Mrs.Lalitha Devi, Retd.Lecturer, HOD Sanskrit,St.Pious X Degree & PG College for Women, Nacharam, Hyderabad was invited as Guest Speaker.

  • On the occasion of Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam, the Department of Telugu had a celebration on 29 th August, prior to which various competitios were conducted on 25 th August in room no’s 37 & 38 for the students to participate and showcase their talents.

    EXTENSION PROGRAM:

  • The Department of Second Languages organized an Extension Programme on ‘Empowerment through Educatio” at Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Socity School & College, (TGMREIS) on 24th February 2025

    Taruni Club Activity

  • The Department of Telugu has Conducted an Club Activity for 2nd year B.COM & BBA students on 4thMarch ,2026.on the topics "Quiz on Farmers & Traditions vs Technology".The Activity was conducted by Mrs.Y.Jyothi,faculty of Department of Telugu,where she presented a brief introduction about Farmers to 40 students. A quiz was followed after the introduction, where the students were able to test their knowledge about the Farmers . The quiz not only helped the students to Through the Farmers quiz, students gained awareness about various agricultural practices, increasing their overall knowledge and Through the Traditions vs Technology quiz, students could see how technology and development bought a change in traditional practices.

  • The Department of Telugu has conducted an activity for 1st Year BA and BSc students on 25th July 2025, on the topic రామాయణం. The activity was conducted by Mrs. Y. Jyothi, faculty of Department of Telugu, where she presented a brief introduction about Ramanayam to 40 students. A quiz was followed after the introduction, where the students were able to test their knowledge about the Ramanayam. The quiz not only helped the students to recall their knowledge, but also helped them to interact with their classmates and the faculty freely.
