SUSI: US sponsored Student Exchange Programme-8th January 2020 "To seek, to strive, and to serve"
The Management of St. Pious X College encourages students to participate, learn and gain experience from Student exchange programs abroad. This year 10 students were nominated for selection of Student Leaders on ‘Women’s Leadership, Education and the future of Work, Religious freedom and Pluralism’ under 2020 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI). They are: Lily Palaparthi (I BA), Ritisha Deshpande (II BSc), Divya Beulah (II BSc), Shirly Percy (II BSc), G. Prakruthi Reddy (II BBA), Wajiha Kamal (I BBA), Lydia Sharon (II BSc), Anjali Mamindla (II BSc), Simran Rajani (I BA), Shravika Reddy (II BA). 4 Students G. Prakruthi Reddy, Lydia Sharon, Ritisha Deshpande and Lily Palaparthi were shortlisted by the US. Consulate and were called for an interview on 8th January 2020. The results are awaited.
Student Exchange Programme Organized-8th to 10th December 2019 “Let your eyes look forward and your gaze straight ahead of you”
The Department of Botany and Biotechnology organized a Student Exchange program for students from Silver Jubilee College, Kurnool on “Plant Tissue culture and secondary metabolites” from 8th to 10th December 2019. The program included theory sessions and practical sessions. Students learnt about Sterilization techniques, Method of preparing Morishige & Skoog stock solutions, Working Solution, Sterilization of Explant and inoculation. In plant metabolites students learnt about Sample preparation, Crude extract preparation and qualitatively estimations of phenols, flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, saponins, carbohydrates & quinones. As a part of the program, Dr. Vindhya Vasini Roy, Asst. Prof., Department of Microbiology conducted a lecture on “Identification and Cultivation of Virus”on 9th December 2019.
Student Exchange Programme Attended-18th to 28th January 2020. “With coordination and cooperation she shall lead the institution to success”
The Department of Economics attended a student exchange program to Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), Gujarat, from 18th to 28th January 2020. 17 students, mentored by Mrs. K Malathi Devi (Head, Department of Social Sciences) attended this program which sought to gain an insight into life at the School of Liberal Studies in PDPU. Day 1 began with a campus tour and orientation program, following which the St. Pious team interacted with the students from the School of Liberal Studies. During the next few days the team attended classes and special sessions conducted by the faculty of SLS, PDPU.
