PEARL - "Pious Empowerment And Reach out Programme for Learning"

PEARL is a programme which promotes social service to the community. It is sought to arouse the social conscience of students and provide them with the opportunity to work with the people around and understand the practical realities in the Society. The main objective of PEARL are to promote Education, Health Awareness, Women Empowerment and Community Service.

PEARL ACTIVITIES

2022-23

28th February, 2023

PEARL students along Mrs. Paleena, Faculty, Department of Physics visited Wesley Government High School, Nacharam to conduct orientation program on Health and Hygiene to all girl students of 6 th and 7 th standard. Good personal hygiene is one of the best ways to protect from getting infectious diseases and it also helps to prevent from spreading diseases to other people and eventually leads to good health. Pearl students created awareness to Girl children about the habits that affect the Health and personal Hygiene practices at home, school and at public places.

16th February, 2023

PEARL(Pious Empowerment And Reach out Programme for Learning) an ISR wing of the college in collaboration with IIC organized an “Orientation on Entrepreneurship” for the school children in Wesley Co-Education high school, Nacharam. Ten student volunteers and two Faculty member reached the school @1pm .The session was started by Ms.Sanjana the student volunteer who enlightened the students about the importance of entrepreneurship , she further spoke about , the current scenario of the business world and the various opportunities in the market with creative ideas the session continued by a workshop where in a student volunteer Deekshitha demonstrated. Various items like “Artificial flower bouquets, Acrylic paintings, Greeting cards, Rakhis and Clay art”.

January, 2023

Teaching in Government t School : the regular extension activity of PEARL teaching in Govt Schools. The volunteers started teaching in the two adopted schools one is Government primary School Nacharam and the other Wesley Co-Education High School, Raghavendra Nagar, Nacharam,Hyderabad. Every Friday the student volunteers reach the schools at 2 pm and take class from 2 to 3. 40 pm . Volunteers conduct various activities at school which help them to build their overall personality, this activities include , communication skills , Story-writing, conducting debates, handwriting, personal hygiene etc.

25th October, 2022:

To celebrate the spirit of Diwali festive season various competitions were organised for the students of all the streams on 21 st &22 nd October 2022 by PEARL/ED /SESRE Cells.On 21 st October, the various competetions -Diya making decoration ,Paper Lanternmaking ,Greeting Card making & Home Decor crafts for Diwali were held in the college Cafetria at 10:00 am

The groceries collected were given to Grace welfare Society. This society is for home for the aged, orphans,HIV infected/Affected and street children serving the people.

20th October, 2022:

The PEARL Coordinator Mrs.Geetha oriented all the first year students about PEARL.She explained about the activities of PEARL , role of students and the registration process.

15th September, 2022

29th August to 9th September, 2022

The Nss & Pearl Committee has taken initiative to organize a charity drive from 29 th August to 9 th September in the college premises. The Committee requested the departments and the students of various discipline to donate in kind like basic needs, soaps, Provisions, oil, shampoos, etc, which every possible way they can to collect these items a drop box was kept near office digital board which was very accessible to everyone as the intention was to creative the senses of belongings and sharing and caring attitude and approach towards the students to be a part of the charity. It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving with a hope that the initiative would be of great help to the people out there.

11th August, 2022

The PEARL committee in collaboration with STARS took permission from officials to ties Rakis to the Inmates of Central Jail at Cherlapally on 11th August 2022. Mrs. Geetha PEARL Coordinator and Mrs. and Mrs Swarna , PEARL Committee Member along with 9 Volunteers reached the Venue at 11 am and tied rakis to the Officers and the inmates .student volunteers interacted with them & expressed there feeling on there visit . The students distributed sweets & made the inmates Happy.

2021-22

28th February 2022

PEARL students of I and II M.Sc. (Physics) and Mrs. Paleena, Faculty, Department of Physics visited Wesley Government High School, Nacharam to celebrate National Science day. Mrs.Paleena explained the need of virtual labs for science experiments and demonstratedBasic science experiments using virtual labs for 8 th and 9 th Class students. PEARL students demonstrated basic electric circuits. Drawing competition on the theme ‘Science and Environment, on this occasion and prizes were distributed to the winners.

28th February 2022

11th August, 2022 : CELEBRATION OF RAKSHA BANDHAN

The PEARL volunteers in collaboration with STARS visited Central Jail at Cherlapally on 11th August 2022.to Celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Inmates. Mrs. Geetha PEARL Coordinator and Mrs. and Mrs Swarna , PEARL Committee Member along with 9 Volunteers reached the Venue at 11 am and tied rakis to the Officers and the inmates and distributed sweets . they made the inmates Happy.

2020-21

September 2021:

PEARL in Collaboration with Social Science Department on eve of Teachers day 7th September, 2021 helped needy women by allowing them to put a stall in the college and sell handmade wire bags . The sale was good and could help the needy women financially.

October 2021:

The PEARL Committee in collaboration with commerce department organised a “Workshop on Diya Making on 29th October,2021 ” where all the interested students were invited to participate in this event. The event was conducted to introduce Diya making and enhance artisticskills of the students. Around 100 student participated and learned the skill of Divya making and prepared around 100 verities of diyas .

November 2021:

November ,2021 :The PEARL Committee in collaboration with Department of Commerce on 1st & 2nd November, 2021collaborated and sold all the Diyas which were made in the Workshop on the Eve of Diwali . Rs.3000/ was sponsored by the college Management with which materials such as Earthen lamps, gel wax, glasses, moulds and stationery were bought. The students using their artistic skills made various products such as Painted Diyas, Designer Diyas and Gel wax candles.

2019-20

June 2019:

Pearl student volunteers started teaching in two schools Wessely high school and Nacharam govt school on every Friday 2.30 to 3.30pm

July 2019:

  • students generously contributed Groceries and provisions for a week and donated to YOUNG INDIA CHARITY
  • On 13th July 2019 Mrs. Geetha, PEARL Coordinator and Mrs. Nazia Begum conducted orientation to Degree Ist year students to introduce PEARL as an ISR wing.

August 2019:

  • A Rakhi making workshop was conducted and pearl volunteers prepared Rakis and sold them on the occasion of Rakhi festival and raised fund for PEARL Activities

August 2019:

Volunteers visited Sadhana school for challenged children in Mallapur and tied Rakhis to the inmates and spend time with them .

4th August 2017:

Teaching in Wesley Govt School and Nacharam Govt School started. It is taken on every Friday from 2.30 to 4.00p.m.

14th to 17th November 2017: 

Candle making and Diyas painting work shop was conducted by Pearl and Department of commerce for all the interested students.

18th November 2017:

The candles and Diyas made in the workshop were sold in the Stall and made profit of Rs.2900 was made.

15th November 2017:

Competitions were conducted to the students of 1st to 10th classes in the Wesley school on eve on children’s day and prizes were given to the winners.
