The Department of Biochemistry was established in 1997 at graduate level and upgraded to the PG level in the year 2002 catering to the changing horizons in the field of life sciences. The Department has dedicated and well qualified teachers who have the quest for excellence in teaching and preparing the students to achieve high standards in their career by instilling the scientific aptitude and analytical abilities. The department maintains well equipped laboratories and a Departmental library that cater to the needs of the students
In addition to the core faculty, expertise from other related departments of Osmania University and eminent scientists from various National Institutes namely, NIN, CDFD, IICT contribute to the teaching programme The department has won laurels for its accomplishments since its inception by consistently securing 100 % pass percentage every year in the university examinations. The alumni of the department are well placed in various premier Institutions as research assistants, teachers & entrepreneurs in various parts of the country and abroad.

The students of I and II and I B.Sc BcMC formed a team comprising of 6 students and participated in Smart India Hackathon 2019 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of pressing problems. The team gave a solution to the problem mentioned by Emcure Pharmaceuticals. The project was titled ‘Machinery Horoscope’. A training was offered under the guidance of the Mentors, Mr.Sanjay andMr.Praneeth of Sansah Innovations Ltd. The team won the We School Inspiration Award and a cash prize of 5000 rupees for their project.
