Student Centric Activities

1As part of Student centric activities, the department intends to sow the seeds of scientific temper and computer skills in the students right from their joining year by conducting various activities throughout the year

3Computer Department Contributions

  • Initiated “Online Test” as one of the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation methods and also trained the faculty in preparing online objective type test for their concern subjects
  • Trained the college faculty in developing digital Video lessons
  • Designing Banners, Posters for all Events of the college
  • Regular updating of web site content
  • Maintenance and Analysis of Student Feedback system (SFS) every year
  • Internal faculty as Resource persons for computer based certificate courses

4Extension activities:

  • “Pious Lab to Local Network”: Students are encouraged to render their service in providing Basic Computer Skills to the economically challenging students of the community.
  • An Extension Activity on “Pious Lab to Local Network” – Free Computer Training on Basics in Computers was arranged for local women and economically challenging students during 15th to 29th July 2015 in the computer laboratory. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Uma Maheshwar Rao, President, Snehapuri colony, Hyderabad
  • Students are encouraged to donate stationary materials and unused note books to the economically challenging students and teach basic skills during their free time
  • Free computer training to the neighborhood women
  • Faculty development programs in ICT enabled tools for teaching and Learning to the college faculty
  • An orientation programme was organized for II and III year students and NSS Volunteers on “Winter camp 2016 Voice 4 Girls”, in collaboration with Voice for Girls, an NGO, Telangana. 10 of our students were hired and trained for 5 days intensively to impart voice curriculum to maximize their teaching potential and gain knowledge about social realities and managerial skills for which they had to travel and live in a rural camp location. These counselors conducted activity based microteaching to 300 adolescent girls in Govt. schools for 10 days at Mahbubnagar, Jedcherla, Gandeed

5Our Achievements:

  • The department always maintains the overall pass percentage between 90 and 100
  • The department has 21 university toppers in its cap
  • Students bag prizes in IT competitions conducted at outside intercollegiate level
  • Many of our students got placed in Companies like Wipro, Dell, Cognizant, Genpact, Accenture, Infosys, Amazon, Southerland Global Solutions, TCS, ADP, Deloitte, Dupont, IBM, HSBC, GE Capital etc.

Signed an MoU with GIT (Girls In Technology) an non-profit organization focused on Engagement, Education and Empowerment of influential women in technology and entrepreneurship on “Promoting Girls in Tech events and requirements” on 20th July, 2015. Some of the activities organized were:

  • 23rd July 2016: Tech Talk Series by GIT on “Mobile App Development” at café gallery ,Banjarahills.
  • Girls in Tech India Speaker Series titled “Women in Technology: Speaker Series”.
  • Girls in Tech India Entrepreneur workshop titled “Women Entrepreneurs – Breaking Barriers”.
  • Virtual Boot-camp by Hilary Weber on Confidence, Leadership and Entrepreneurship held at Microsoft, India
  • Mr. K. Sandhya Sree and Mrs. K. Kala Bharathi (Lecturer in Computer Science) attended the Girls in Tech India's official launch organized at Park Hyatt, Banjarahills, Hyderabad

Department Activities 2016-17:

  • 25th August 2016: Started Diploma Course in “Advanced Excel” for final years in collaboration with NIIT, Hubsiguda.
  • 26th August 2016: Organized a State level FDP on ICT Based Learning using Camtasia Tool for computer faculty from various districts of Telangana.
  • An orientation programme was organized for II and III B.Com students and NSS Volunteers on “Winter camp 2016 Voice 4 Girls”, in collaboration with Voice for Girls, an NGO, Telangana.
  • Mrs. P. Soumya attended one day symposium on “CBCSE & its implementation” at University PG college.
  • Mrs. P. Soumya attended a National Seminar on “Bench Marking practices for Quality Enhancement” organized by IQAC cell of St. Ann’s college.
  • Students In house Projects: Placement Information portal, Game play, Result Analysis, etc.

Pious Colonnade 2015:

As a part of Academic Science Exhibition, students have exhibited various models such as:
