The Physics department organized an e-Poster Competition on December 14, 2024, to
commemorate National Energy Conservation Day.
On August 21, 2024, the Physics department observed Akshay Urja Diwas, a day dedicated to
promoting awareness about the vital role of renewable energy sources in shaping a sustainable
future and mitigating climate change.
Celebrations:
On August 21, 2024, the Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics departments jointly organized
Fresher's Day, a warm welcome ceremony designed to help new students transition smoothly
into college life, fostering connections and a sense of belonging. The theme, "RRR- Rising,
Radiant, Revelry," effectively captured the essence of the event, fostering a lively, joyful, and
enthusiastic atmosphere. The program included: Entertainment, Ramp Walk and Miss Fresher
Field Trip:
Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi from the Physics Department along with final B.Sc. Physics students
attended a Plasma Exhibition on 14 August 2024 at Bhawan’s college Sainikpuri, Hyderabad.
This event aimed to showcase the fascinating world of plasmas, highlighting their properties,
applications, and importance in modern technology.

- Dr Komala attended a 12-day AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Faculty
Development Program on "Entrepreneurship and Start-up – Accelerating Indian Economy" at St.
Pious X P.G. (MBA) College for Women from December 9, 2024, to December 21, 2024 which
aimed to accelerate the Indian economy through entrepreneurship and start-ups. This program
provided them with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship
and start-up management, which can be beneficial for their students and the institution as a
whole.
- Dr. Komala & Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi Attended one week online national FDP on
“Recent advances in Functional Material and characterizations” from 25/11/24 to
30/11/24 organized by SRM institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai.
- Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi from the Physics Department attended a 5-day online
workshop on Incorporating Universal Human Values in Education, organized by AICTE,
New Delhi from 17-21 June 2024.
Clubs
The Physics Department’s Galaxy Club celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2024, with
an online event, promoting yoga as a means to achieve physical, mental, and emotional well-
