Welcome to Department of Commerce


About

The Commerce Department is one of the largest departments in the Institution providing quality education since 1993. It offers B.Com (Gen) and B.Com (Comp) with a present intake of 500 plus students. The department is driven by considerations of quality, well qualified and committed faculty and is ever-ready to design innovative instructional methodology. To equip the students with practical and analytical skills, Commerce Lab has been incepted in 2005. The ‘SPOORTHY’ club of the Commerce Department engages the students in various academic and cognitive activities like Seminars, Group Discussions, Debates, Role Play sessions, Case Study Analysis, Quiz, and Skit both at the intra and inter-collegiate level. Students are taken on field trips and industrial tours. Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development programmes are arranged in collaboration with external agencies. Many students are recruited through the campus placements and placed in reputed organizations like DELL, HSBC, Bank of America, WIPRO, Cognizant, Infosys, etc.. The department has the distinction of securing above 90% pass percentage consistently from its inception and is always ranked among the top 10 affiliated colleges of Osmania University. .

    • Mrs. P. Madhavi Latha from the Commerce department presented a paper titled "E-Commerce Strategies in Emerging Markets - Opportunities and Threats".
    • Mrs. G. Preeti from the Commerce department presented a paper on "E-commerce strategies in emerging markets opportunities and challenges under information technology act, 2000".
    • Mrs. A. Radhika (Commerce) presented a paper on “Navigating Taxes: Winning strategies for startup” at the international conference on Emerging Trends in Commerce, Management and sustainability, organized by RBVRR Degree College for Women, Hyderabad.
    • Mrs. D. Sangeetha (Commerce) presented a paper on “Wealth Management for Millennials & Gen Z” at the same international conference on Emerging Trends in Commerce, Management and sustainability, organized by RBVRR Degree College for Women, Hyderabad .
    • Mrs. Geetha from the Commerce department published a full paper in Conference Proceedings on "Greenwashing in the ERA of CSR" with ISBN 978-81-977245-3-4.
    • Mrs. P. Madhavi Latha from the Commerce department published a full paper in Conference Proceedings on "E-Commerce Strategies in Emerging Markets- Opportunities and Threats" with ISBN 978-81-977245-3-4.

Events

    MOU's:

    • The Department of Physics has signed an MOU with Pantech e learning Private Limited to train our students towards Job Ready Courses, offer them internships, for Resource Sharing and Consultancy work.

    Special Day

    The Physics department organized an e-Poster Competition on December 14, 2024, to commemorate National Energy Conservation Day. On August 21, 2024, the Physics department observed Akshay Urja Diwas, a day dedicated to promoting awareness about the vital role of renewable energy sources in shaping a sustainable future and mitigating climate change.

Celebrations:

    On August 21, 2024, the Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics departments jointly organized Fresher's Day, a warm welcome ceremony designed to help new students transition smoothly into college life, fostering connections and a sense of belonging. The theme, "RRR- Rising, Radiant, Revelry," effectively captured the essence of the event, fostering a lively, joyful, and enthusiastic atmosphere. The program included: Entertainment, Ramp Walk and Miss Fresher

Field Trip:

    Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi from the Physics Department along with final B.Sc. Physics students attended a Plasma Exhibition on 14 August 2024 at Bhawan’s college Sainikpuri, Hyderabad. This event aimed to showcase the fascinating world of plasmas, highlighting their properties, applications, and importance in modern technology.

    1. Dr Komala attended a 12-day AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Faculty Development Program on "Entrepreneurship and Start-up – Accelerating Indian Economy" at St. Pious X P.G. (MBA) College for Women from December 9, 2024, to December 21, 2024 which aimed to accelerate the Indian economy through entrepreneurship and start-ups. This program provided them with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship and start-up management, which can be beneficial for their students and the institution as a whole.
    2. Dr. Komala & Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi Attended one week online national FDP on “Recent advances in Functional Material and characterizations” from 25/11/24 to 30/11/24 organized by SRM institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai.
    3. Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi from the Physics Department attended a 5-day online workshop on Incorporating Universal Human Values in Education, organized by AICTE, New Delhi from 17-21 June 2024.

Clubs

    The Physics Department’s Galaxy Club celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2024, with an online event, promoting yoga as a means to achieve physical, mental, and emotional well- being.

    1. On 10 September 2022, Dr. P. Sangeetha Lakshmi, Faculty, Department of Physics received Viswaguru International Award in recognition of service toHumanities&skill in the field of teaching by Viswaguru world records and Lion’s club of Hyderabad.
