About Department of Sanskrit

Department of Sanskrit is repository of invaluable knowledge of Ancient Indian Heritage and texts. Sanskrit texts, bridge the gap between the past and the future through the present. The department through its committed efforts achieved a pass percentage of 99% with highest mark of 99% by conducting Unit Tests, Quarterly Exams and Pre-final for the students. Besides academics the department also strives in conducting competitions in Quiz, Debates, Sloka Recitation and Sanskrit News reading by which subject confidence among students is promoted. Students are also encouraged to participate in Intercollegiate Competitions. Student’s class projects are also encouraged. Department is providing a library of 2500 Books. Students are motivated by means of CAMTASIA, and Power Point Presentations.


Objectives of our Department are as follows:

  • To guide and assist students in the pursuit of knowledge in various disciplines in Sanskrit Language and Literature.
  • To awaken students to their rich cultural, moral, literary and scientific heritage and to spur them to make their own.
  • To develop intellectual faculties of students by inculcating analytical abilities and capabilities for sound research.

Guest Lecture:

  • A Guest Lecture was organized on “Upanidhads”, 10.08.2016 by Dr.A. Ramulu, Head of Department OU
  • Guest Lecture was by Dr. Ramulu, “Prapancha Vijayaniki Pancha Sutralu”, Principal, Government Degree College, Begumpet on the topic on 09.08.2017.
  • Inter Departmental Extension Lecture was organized on 20-06-2016 by Department of Second Languages & Computer Sciences in “Uni-Code Applications for Digital Devices”, by CH.V.Subba Rao, from NGRI.

Extension Activity:

  • Outreach Program on 22.02.2017 in Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Primary School, at Nacharam.
  • “World Music Day” was held on 24th June 2017 and the resource person is Perini Sivakumar .
  • Share a meal program was on 08.07.2017


  • Intercollegiate competitions was conducted by OU from 12th to 14th October 2017.
  • Intercollegiate Cultural Competitions was held  by OU on 3rd to 5th of November 2016.
